Finale Speed Carbon Fiber Camaro Has Mind-Blowing Paint

Finale Speed stunned the world in January when it unveiled the world’s first exposed-weave carbon fiber Camaro, and now it’s closing the year with another 1969 Camaro finished in a candy red-colored carbon fiber.

The paint on this car, which initially debuted at SEMA earlier this year, is exceptional. Finale Speed is a restomod expert and starts by sanding the carbon fiber panels until the surface is perfectly smooth. The custom-mixed candy red paint is then applied at a very precise pressure. This process results in carbon panels finished in a deep red but with a clear contrast between the exposed dark grey elements. Every angle gives the finish more depth, and changing light only rams that point home.

Finale Speed obviously knows what it’s doing when it comes to carbon fiber since Dodge trusts it to make 1970 Dodge Charger bodies you can buy via Direct Connection.

“Finale Speed is all about innovation, and we are proud to offer our carbon-fiber vehicles in this gorgeous candy red paint finish,” said creative director Chris Jacobs. “The process is labor-intensive but worth it. Often, when carbon fiber is painted, the weave can tend to be washed out in direct sunlight. Finale Speed’s paint mixture and process ensures the weave is always front and center.”

While the candy-red carbon fiber finish is the most astonishing thing about this car, the stuff underneath is equally impressive.

Under the hood, you’ll find a GM Performance crate engine (LT4), as used in the Cadillac Escalade-V and seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette. It produces 650 horsepower and sends the power to the rear wheels via a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission. As you can imagine, it has the potential to be a handful, so it has a nine-inch LSD-equipped rear end with Dutchman axles. Thanks to stainless-steel long-tube headers and a custom-fabricated exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers, you’ll hear it coming long before you see it.

For safety, the ’69 Camaro rides on Toyo Proxes R888R rubber, and to slow it down, it has six-piston Wilwood calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. These clamp onto 14-inch slotted, cross-drilled, and vented rotors.

Inside, it has all the regular restomod goodies, including leather, aluminum, Alcantara, and an Alpine head unit sending your favorite ’70s prog rock to a high-end sound system.

The Finale Speed 1969 Camaro is available as a rolling body or a turnkey finished vehicle. The finished car starts at $349,000, not including options.
