This 911 GT3 RS Will Face a Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica, So Let’s Predict the Winner

What’s better than thinking about a 1/4-mile drag race between a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica? Well, actually seeing one happen, obviously. Alas, that time has yet to come, but that can’t stop us from trying to predict how it could all turn out in the end.

Brooks Weisblat from the “DragTimes” YouTube channel recently got his hands on a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) and will soon race it against his Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica. The latter is currently in the shop, so while that’s being worked on, he put out a video teasing people with the GT3 RS. And oh, boy, is it something else…

Sitting snuggly in his dream garage, the Porsche is next to some other modern-day icons like the 986-hp (1,000-ps) Ferrari SF90 and the 769-hp (780 ps) McLaren 765LT. Brooks raced them both a while ago, and the Ferrari SF90 Stradale came out victorious. The SF90 got to the quarter-mile in 9.92 seconds at 147 mph (236 kph), while the McLaren did it in 10.13 seconds at 147 mph (236 kph).

This straight-piped GT3 RS has 21-inch wheels in the front and 22-inch at the rear. Together with the full exhaust, it comes in at around 550 hp, according to Brooks.

The RWD stock version comes with a 4.0-liter engine that can deliver 518 hp (525 ps) with 342 lb-ft (464 Nm) of torque. On paper, it can get from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat with a top (track) speed of 184 mph or 296 kph. Porsche also says that if you equip it with the Sport Chrono Package, it can beat the 1/4-mile in 10.9 seconds. Of course, he put all that to the test.

After the usual sound check, Brooks tested it out on the street for a bit, proving that it doesn’t take much to get whiplash from changing gears. It accelerates so fast that it plants you in your seat. So, how fast can it go?

Well, from a complete stop, with launch control and other such technological jibber-jabber turned on, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS managed to accelerate from 0-60 in 3.41 seconds. It took 7.32 seconds at 99 mph to get to the 1/8-mile mark and 11.29 seconds at 124 mph to cross the 1/4-mile imaginary finish line. The weather was great and the roads weren’t wet, so there aren’t any nature-related excuses, but at the start, it did get a bit of wheelspin.

Now, is it enough to face the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica on an official drag racing track? First, the Tecnica has a 5.2-liter NA V10 engine that can output 631 hp (640 ps) with 417 lb-ft or 565 Nm of torque.

Now, let’s see how it did in a previous race where it faced a Corvette C8 Z06. During its fastest run, it went from 0 to 60 mph in 2.84 seconds. It got to the 1/8-mile mark in 6.78 seconds and crossed the 1/4-mile line in 10.36 seconds at 131 mph.

Judging from these results, it looks like the 911 is in for some stormy weather if these results overlap when they actually race. There is a 0.54-second difference at the 0-60 mph segment and a 0.93-second difference for the 1/4-mile stretch of the track in favor of the Lambo. Well, at least one thing’s for sure. This will be one exciting race to watch.
