Corvette Manages to Evade Police on Wild High Speed Chase

Over the years, we’ve seen more high-speed chases involving Corvettes than we can count, a phenomenon that almost always ends badly for the person trying to get away. After all, aside from traffic, the high possibility of a crash, pursuing police, and helicopters, there’s the simple fact of the matter that most people, well, they simply lack the skills necessary to do so. However, in Los Angeles recently, a Corvette driver did manage to get away following a high-speed pursuit, according to NBC 4.

According to police, an officer attempted to pull over the Corvette and its driver at around 11 pm in the Baldwin Park area after they caught it speeding. However, the driver refused to pull over, and instead, continued on their merry way.

The Corvette driver proceeded to head west down the 10 Freeway and drove through Los Angeles, Encino, and Tarzana, hitting speeds of around 160 mph at the peak of the chase.

As if that wasn’t dangerous enough on the busy freeway, the Corvette driver also took more than their fair share of risks weaving in and out of traffic, having several close calls along the way.

Police even tried to set up a spike strip at one point during the chase, but that didn’t stop the driver either, who simply drove around it and continued on, obviously determined to escape the pursuing officers.

Ultimately, police decided to call off the chase near Thousand Oaks as they were worried that things had simply become too dangerous to continue. In some parts of the country, this is common practice, but in LA – where car chases are fairly frequent – it’s not something we see very often.

Given the fact that this Corvette driver was determined not to give up – and seemingly has some skill when it comes to high-speed driving – that was probably the right call. No word on whether or not the perpetrator has been caught yet, but we imagine that eventually, that will be the case, regardless.
