A 1972 Chevrolet Nova fitted from the factory with a sky roof needs a new home, promising an all-original setup and only 52K miles on the clock.
The sky roof was an option exclusively available on the 1972 and 1973 Novas, including on the highly desirable Super Sport.
The Nova published on eBay by seller ratchevelles doesn’t come with the SS package but flexes a bored engine and an automatic transmission. The engine starts, runs, and drives, so the Nova doesn’t need more than the typical TLC to become a daily driver.
It has already received important fixes, including new. Carpeting, reupholstered bucket seats, and other mechanical repairs to keep the Nova in a running condition.
The car has never spent too much time on the road. The odometer indicates 52,000 miles, and they are all original. The 327 under the hood is the unit installed on the Nova when it rolled off the assembly lines, so aside from the aforementioned upgrade, you’re getting the full package in the original Chevy package.
The factory sky roof sets this Nova apart from the rest of the crowd. Only offered for two years, the sky roof was installed on just a little over 6,800 units of nearly 350,000 Novas produced by Chevrolet in 1972. The production dropped to 3,250 units in 1973 when the sky roof was even rarer. The option also made its way to the Super Sport, though it’s unclear how many are still around.
The paint looks good despite a series of dings and scratches that require urgent attention if you want to make the car a perfect 10. However, it’s unknown if the finish is the original coat of paint sprayed by Chevrolet before the Nova left the factory.
Overall, it’s hard to find something to hate on this Nova, especially because it has intriguing mileage, an all-original setup, and the factory 327 with upgrades that still keep it in running shape. The car is ready for the road, so if you can buy the car and drive it today without further repairs, However, the Nova still needs occasional fixes to become a collectible, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone buying it specifically for this purpose. Finding a factory sky roof is rare, especially with an all-original setup.
The selling price is the main roadblock for the Nova’s return to the road. The owner is confident they could get $10K for this rare Nova, but the bidding is yet to receive any offers. A reserve is also in place, meaning the $10K starting bid won’t be the selling price. You can see the car in person in Granby, Massachusetts, with the auction projected to end in approximately one week
