One of the most affordable ways to get a Lotus isn’t to purchase a new model, but to actually pay a few thousand bucks for a barn find and then restore it to the point when it can become your new driver. And this 1967 Elan right here could be the perfect car for such a project, as it’s not only rather cheap, but it also comes in a condition that allows you to bring it back on the road.

More specifically, the seller says on Craigslist that this ’67 Elan has been sitting since 1986, so it’s been abandoned for quite a while. The engine is no longer installed in the car, but you’ll still get it should you decideto purchase the Elan, the owner says.

“It does have the original 1600cc engine with a manual gearbox. Engine is currently out of the vehicle but can be installed for transportation purposes. The major components for the engine are there. Has four matching aftermarket wheels with the three ear knock offs. The frame on the car is solid. There are other parts for the car included with the sale and shown in the photos,” the listing reads.

The interior of the car, however, needs massive improvements, and this is where you’ll probably spend more money that you’re willing to. By the looks of things, there is also one seat that’s missing and finding a replacement could prove to be quite a challenge.

Needless to say, it does require a series of fixes before it can start normally, but the owner says there’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Plus, you also receive the extra parts should you want to use them for your restoration project.
