Some People Are Just Lucky: This Guy Found A 1966 Impala Ss In A Garage, All Original

Finding an abandoned car in a barn or a garage can be a super-rewarding experience, especially if the vehicle doesn’t need much work.
The 1966 Impala SS in these photos is the dream of any barn finder.

The car was discovered by eBay seller 64pirate in a small town in Southern Indiana, and it has everything you could wish on a classic Impala.

First, it’s an all-original. This means the owner never replaced its parts with non-original items, and I doubt the owner actually replaced anything. The Impala has been sitting since 1975, so it spent only nine years on the road. If the owner properly cared for this Impala, the car landed in service only for regular maintenance, so what you see in the photos should be last touched by a Chevrolet mechanic.

Second, it comes with the typical rust suspects, albeit the damage is mostly on the surface. The owner has already put the Impala on a lift to inspect the undersides, and you can see how the floors look in the attached photo. It requires some work, but everything is doable, and I doubt a professional restorer would spend much time dealing with these metal problems.

Third, it’s a Super Sport. That’s right, this Impala wears the highly desirable SS tags. The 1965 Impala was the first car in the US to sell more than one million units in one year, and the strong sales continued in the second half of the decade. The Super Sport became a major sales catalyst, mainly thanks to big-block engines.

Fourth, this Impala spent its entire life with a single owner. It left its one and only home recently when the eBay seller pulled it from long-term storage.

The Super Sport needs a complete restoration. A respray will make it look like new again, as the red finish shows its age. The black interior survived the test of time well, and it’s entirely original, with no modifications throughout these years.

The Impala sells with the original license plate from 1966, the original books and papers, the original keys, and the original jack and spare.

Unsurprisingly, the car has already caught the attention of diehard Impala fans online. The bidding received eight offers, with the price reaching $9,000. The vehicle has already secured a new home, as it landed on eBay with a no-reserve auction, meaning that the top bidder will win it.

Meanwhile, the 327 under the hood is still waiting for a major overhaul, as certain parts, such as the heads, are missing (everything else is there). You can find this Impala in Evansville, Indiana, and you’ll need a trailer to transport it to your garage, considering the incomplete engine.
