The guys at Iron City Garage are planting some seeds for future acquisitions of vintage Corvettes with their latest trip to an “undisclosed secret location in Pennsylvania.”
In their latest YouTube video, Pete (and his helper Shane) take us to an abandoned schoolhouse that he had visited a few years ago. On that first trip, Pete had bought an old signpost and he was finally getting around to picking it up now that he had a trailer long enough to hold it.
While they were there, they decided to take a look around at an interesting collection of C1 through C3 Corvettes and miscellaneous parts, including two ’54s and a ’57 inside the old brick school, apparently parked there since the early ’70s.
They also find a ’59 in pieces in the back of a body shop building, and elsewhere scattered on the property were a ’64 hardtop, a ’58, a piece of a ’63 split window, a couple more C2 roadsters, a ’68 Stingray, a rubber bumper C3, and another four-speed ’68 with a 427.
Not to mention all sorts of parts stored outside and in the basement of the old school, even an old Pennsylvania DOT steamroller parked outside.
It all makes for a fun trip, but since the owner (who remains hidden underneath a smiley face to stay anonymous) is a very busy man, they’re not able to come up with any kind of deal today.
Pete does come up with a plan, though. He thinks some of the cars and parts could be sold pretty easily at a booth at a future Corvettes of Carlisle. Since this year’s event is slated for late August, it looks like 2025 would be the earliest to search for that booth, however. But Pete figures at least he’s maintaining a relationship with the owner, and that good will might pay off for all of them eventually.
