Bowling Green Fire Department And Hazmat Crews Dispatched To The Corvette Assembly Plant On Monday Evening

Two things keep me up at night, and one of them is a fire at the Corvette Assembly Plant. It’s not like it’s the first time a fire at the plant has happened.

WNKY reported that Bowling Green Fire Department and Hazmat crews were dispatched to the Corvette Assembly Plant late Monday evening after a car was reported to be on fire inside the plant. The good news so far it that it seems like it was investigated and “quickly downgraded.”

“Scanner traffic indicates that a vehicle caught on fire inside the building. It is believed lithium-ion batteries may be involved. According to scanner traffic, hazmat crews were called in but were quickly downgraded.”

WNKY says they spoke with the BGFD and they are currently investigating.

We searched Bowling Green-area media a little after 12 midnight and only WNKY is reporting this so far. The fact that it was quickly downgraded hopefully tells us that it was probably much ado about nothing. Mentioning the E-Ray’s lithium-ion batteries could have been more of a cautionary tip for the firefighters dispatched than an actual battery on fire. However, anytime Hazmat gets a callout to BGAP, we need to know more about what exactly happened.

We’ll update this story in the morning for any additional information.

FYI, the other thing that keeps me up at night? Ordering a Corvette in a new color that I haven’t yet seen in person. IYKYK.
