As if the 1967 Impala wasn’t already a head-turning machine, the famous show Supernatural turned this Chevrolet model into a superstar. While most people believe the Supernatural model is an Impala SS, it’s a standard Sport Sedan that is likely equipped with a 327 (5.3-liter) V8 engine.
Unsurprisingly, many people tried to build Supernatural clones out of base 1967 Impalas, and someone on eBay claims they have the perfect candidate for such a project.
Their 1967 Chevrolet Impala four-door hardtop was found in a backyard in Kansas. It doesn’t flex the best condition, which makes sense considering the vehicle has been sleeping under the clear sky, so the buyer must deal with the typical rust suspects.
Seller jaccimx says the “underneath of the car looks solid due to undercoating,” though the passenger-side floors will require some attention. The quarter panels don’t look good either, so the Impala will require the usual metalwork for a restoration project.
The engine under the hood isn’t the 327 that powers the Supernatural Impala but a 283 (4.7-liter) V8. The V8 still turns over, so it’s not yet seized from sitting. A good mechanic would decipher more information and tell if the 283 still has a chance to survive, but until then, you must remember that a trailer is the only way to take the car home. You’ll still need a new water pump for the engine, though.
This Impala rolled off the assembly lines with plenty of options, including power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning. The interior’s condition aligns with the overall shape of the car. The seats require the typical fixes – the driver’s seat needs particular attention, as it exhibits heavy rips, but the dash doesn’t seem cut. It’s impossible to tell if any parts are missing, but the cabin looks good for a car sleeping in a backyard.
Unsurprisingly, the car is already attracting a lot of attention . The listing received close to 20 bids in a few days online, with the top offer already exceeding $4,000. However, the seller has also enabled a reserve, so unless the bidding goes significantly higher, this Impala will stay there for a little longer.
The current owner did not reveal the reserve’s value. The price could go up in the case of a working engine and a solid body, but I don’t expect this Impala to go much higher. It can become a fantastic Supernatural clone, but it still requires a ton of work in terms of metal and the engine under the hood.
