1958 was the big year when Chevrolet reclaimed the leading spot in the United States, as the company’s revamped full-size lineup changed the course of the automotive battle.
The all-new Impala was the nameplate that made it possible. Presented in 1956 as a concept and unveiled in 1958 as a Bel Air version, the Impala started selling like hotcakes from its first day on the market.
It could only be had as a hardtop and convertible, with Chevrolet rapidly understanding that the Impala needed more space to impress. The carmaker promoted the Impala to a stand-alone series in 1959.

Seller shadycigar didn’t mention a previous restoration, but there’s no chance this car is unrestored. The odometer indicates only 5,058 miles, and the Impala is flawless. This is only possible with a full overhaul, albeit you need to see it in person to determine the quality of the job.
The provided photos confirm that the Impala needs nothing. The Snowcrest White paint doesn’t suffer from any rust, dents, or scratches, and the glass has no cracks or other issues. The body is clean, and it’s safe to assume that you won’t find any rust on this Impala. However, put it on a trailer to look for signs of previous repairs, as it’s unclear if it still wears the original floors.
The red vinyl interior is fantastic and includes a like-new headliner and a great carpet. The original radio is still in the car in working condition.
A 348 block will greet you if you open the hood. The Tri-Power engine is paired with a manual transmission and develops 315 horsepower. It probably runs and drives like a new engine and can take you anywhere, considering the overall shape of the car.
The big question is how much of this Impala is still original. The car has clearly been restored, but without an in-person or third-party inspection, it’s almost impossible to tell if this Impala is a collectible or a classic that deserves a place in a garage but no longer flexes the factory package.
However, I’m not surprised to see people engaging in a digital fight for this Impala. The car has already received six bids, and the top offer is $28,000. The best thing about the eBay auction is that it comes without a reserve, meaning that this Impala will certainly have a new home when the battle ends.
