1962 Chevrolet Biscayne Parked For 40 Years Is Ready To Become Half-Pontiac

Chevrolet’s full-size lineup put the company back on the map in the late ’50s, propelling the GM brand to the leading spot in the United States after years of Ford domination.

The full-size strategy worked like a charm for Chevrolet, with models like Bel Air, Impala, and Biscayne targeting and eventually capturing a huge market share in the home market.

All these models shared a common platform, most parts, and the engine lineup, eventually targeting different audiences. For example, Biscayne was the cheapest model in the full-size lineup, lacking the bells and whistles available on its more premium siblings.

The Biscayne is still a highly sought-after classic because it managed to develop a strong client following in the United States. The Biscayne is frequently restored to original specs, although for obvious reasons, the majority of efforts include turning the vehicle into an Impala replica.

The 1962 Biscayne in these photos has a different goal in mind. It wants to be half-Chevrolet, half-Pontiac, as the powertrain has been tweaked for a Pontiac big-block unit.

With the renowned Blue Flame six-cylinder engine, the Biscayne left the assembly lines. It wasn’t the finest option for a full-size automobile, but for someone who wasn’t concerned with performance, it served its purpose perfectly. Although no other information was provided, eBay seller barrluma claims that the Blue Flame has been modified especially to make way for a large block donated by Pontiac. The factory manual transmission has also been replaced by an automatic gearbox.

The car is in poor shape, to put it mildly. The body is rusted, and I’m positive the floorboards and trunk pan are in terrible shape as well. There is obviously a lot of rust, even though the photographs don’t provide a complete view beneath the rugs.

Claims that the buyer will receive all the glass and trim but that the car lacks wheels and tires. It makes sense to expect nothing to be in perfect condition considering the vehicle has been sitting idle for 40 years. The inside is unfinished and lacking numerous components, including the seats. Even though the dash doesn’t appear to have been cut, the steering wheel also seems to be missing.
